Create Now: Enabling youth creativity for over 25 years

We, at reWerk, recently facilitated a donation of 20 laptop computers to one of our incredible nonprofit partners: Create Now. For over 25 years, Create Now has empowered underserved youth from ages 3 to 24 through a variety of art related programs while also providing a wide variety of events and activities outside of the classroom through access to events and excursions.

They’ll use the laptop donation as part of their upcoming animation workshops. Create Now thinks outside of the traditional box of creative programming, and animation has been one of their key workshops over the past 2 years. With connections to industry professionals in animation, they are able to teach youth the ins and outs of what they can do in this field. They provide laptops and iPads on loan for students to take home to hone and practice their craft, and more laptops will enable more students to use this technology to further their skills and creativity.

Our hope is to grow and expand, so we can reach more youth yearly. We have tons of great new events, activities and connections that we want to get our youth exposed to. We couldn’t do any of this without the help of the folks in our community, so please reach out if you’re interested in supporting us in any way.

Create Now is always seeking donors and volunteers to support their holiday events.

  • Annual Halloween Party – Last year, youth from ages 1-20 participated in artistic activities, enjoyed lunch, received gifts, ventured through a haunted maze and got candy, of course! This year’s event is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 14, 2023 in downtown LA.

  • Annual Holiday Party – In previous years, they’ve supported over 300 youth who came together to celebrate, receive gifts and express their creativity through art.

If you’re interested in supporting these upcoming events or making a donation to support their incredible efforts, you can find more information at createnow.org.
