A New Year, A Fresh Opportunity for Learning: reWerk’s First NYC Donation to The Marcy Lab School

At reWerk, we believe that access to the right tools and resources shouldn’t be a barrier to success. That’s why we were thrilled to facilitate our first donation outside of California, straight to our opposite-coast friends at The Marcy Lab School in New York City. We provided furniture and tech equipment to support their mission to transform the career trajectory of underestimated young adults by preparing them for high-paying careers in tech.
This donation, made possible through Loeb.nyc, included flat screen TVs, computer monitors, automated standing desks, bungee chairs, office chairs, filing cabinets and a coffee table.
For students who are hustling to change their futures, sometimes the simplest things – a comfortable chair, a proper desk, a working monitor – can make all the difference. And thanks to the generosity of our donors, Marcy Lab School Fellows have access to an even better-equipped space to support their studies and career journeys.
The Real Impact: Voices from The Marcy Lab School Fellows
The best part? Hearing directly from the students whose learning environments have been transformed. Here’s what a few of them had to say:
💻 Rashell A.: “Thank you reWerk for my new monitor, desk, and computer office chair. Now I will be able to have a space in my home where I can comfortably work at home.”
📂 Irma B.: “I got matched with the filing cabinet, monitor, and a desk. I have already set up my monitor and used the filing cabinet to have some extra space. It has definitely made doing homework easier.”
🎓 Issac B.: “Thank you so much reWerk for providing my community and me with furniture and technology that will better our studies and comfort as we work towards our future careers.”
📚 Christopher J. : “I never would have thought I would be able to get a standing desk at this point in my journey. Now I can study extra hard without the fear of sitting at a desk all day and what it does to my health. Thank you for the opportunities you provide to us!”
📺 Catalina D.: “Thank you so much, reWerk, for providing me this television! While completing code challenges, I use this donation to find videos of similar problems to use as reference as I test and refine my solutions. In the future, I’d like to build sizable applications that can work on both mobile and stationary devices, and having a TV helps me to understand how interfaces compare and perform between screen sizes. Your support has definitely made a positive impact, and I’m incredibly grateful!”
🎮 Luis A.: “Hi reWerk, Thank you so much for matching me with a new TV and standing desk. Previously, I did not have a workspace at home, but now because of your generosity, I have a place I can dedicate to work and stay productive. Additionally, my main hobby for many years has been playing video games, but the old screen I was using was outdated. Thanks to your donation, my hobby has never looked nor performed better!”

A Mission to Bridge the Opportunity Gap
At reWerk, we’re dedicated to creating equitable opportunities by bridging the digital divide. We know that talent is equally distributed, but opportunities are not. Through partnerships like this one with The Marcy Lab School, we’re ensuring that bright, hardworking students have the resources they need to thrive.
This donation was made possible by Loeb.nyc and the continued support of our network of donors and partners who believe in paying it forward. The success of Marcy Lab School graduates – many of whom go on to earn six-figure salaries in the tech industry – is proof of what’s possible when students are given the tools to succeed.
