Step Forward Foundation: Uplifting and empowering underserved and underrepresented communities through pro bono legal services

We recently donated furniture to the Step Forward Foundation, which is a nonprofit providing specialized legal services to low income communities, and we’re so heartened by the work they do. They provide consultations and legal representation for immigration and family law cases at no cost to their community members in Santa Clara, Monterey, and San Benito Counties in California. Their mission is to provide pro bono legal services to uplift and empower underserved and underrepresented communities.

Their specific focus is in working with monolingual speaking survivors of crimes (domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assaults, and other crimes). They provide approximately 1,200 consultations per year; and approximately represent 600 cases (and does not include derivative family members). They also provide support to hate crime victims and employment/labor issues on a smaller scale.

Our furniture donations will go toward updating their office space with more comfortable accommodations for their staff and community members. They recently moved into their own independent office space, and as the needs for their services continue to grow, they hope to continue growing their team to continue serving the needs of the community.

Our goal is to have a world where people aren’t abused or exploited in their lives. We would love to create preventative measures and educational material to get people to prevent cycles of abuse or crimes before they even occur. In the meantime, we will continue to empower and uplift our clients who are taking a step forward in their lives to become independent and financially stable.
