StreetCode Academy: Empowering communities of color to thrive in a digital age
Founded in 2016, StreetCode Academy’s mission is to empower communities of color to achieve their full potential by introducing the skills, mindsets, and networks needed to embrace tech and innovation. reWerk facilitated donations of more than 350 laptops and monitors to StreetCode Academy’s Level-Up program from Disney, Airbnb and Uber in the last year and a half since the beginning of the pandemic.
RebootLA: A pathway to entrepreneurship for returning citizens
reWerk facilitated a donation of monitors and TVs from our corporate partners at Yelp and Twitter to support RebootLA’s programs for returning citizens. The monitors went directly to students to boost their coding environment, and TVs were provided to transitional homes RebootLA partners with to train individuals.
SoLa Tech & Entrepreneurship Center for kids is buzzing with energy
We facilitated a donation of 100 desks from Cruise to the SoLa I CAN Foundation which works to end intergenerational poverty in South Los Angeles through community development, access to education, and economic opportunity.
Critical Design and Gaming at Hawkins High School
Thanks to donations of PlayStation 4s from Activision Blizzard, the Critical Design and Gaming School (CDAGS) at Augustus F. Hawkins High in Los Angeles are putting devices to use in their Learning Lab.
